The officers of Shida Kartli Police Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs detained 5 people as a result of operative-investigative activities, three of which were convicted for various crimes in the past.
Z.F. (DoB 2002), G.O.(DoB2004), G.K. (DoB 2001) and G.B. (DoB 1993) are charged with premeditated murder committed in group under aggravated circumstances, which envisions from 13 to 17 years of imprisonment, while V.K. (DoB1997) was arrested by police and charged with non-reporting the especially grave crime, envisaging from 3 to 7 years of imprisonment.
The investigation establihed that on October 7 of the current year, the detainees were drinking alcohol in one of the underground passages of the town of Gori and were joined by a foreign citizen – T.K. (DoB 1993). The defendants later moved together with T.K. to one of the bars in Gori and continued to drink alcohol, during which a verbal confrontation took place between currently detained persons and T.K. After the mentioned confrontation, the afore mentioned individuals went to the area near to Mtkvari river, where Z.F., G.O., G.K. and G.B. - physically assaulted T.K. and while being unconscious, threw him in the river to conceal the traces of crime. Detainees fled the scene after committing the crime.
The investigation also established that the detainee, V.K. was informed regardng the crime, although failed to inform the law enforcers.
T.K's body was washed ashore by the Mtkvari River on October 8 of the current year, near the village of Kvakhvreli in Gori Municipality.
As a result of complex operative-investigative and search activities, the law enforcers identified the persons involved in the crime and arrested them.
The fact of premeditated murder committed by a group under aggravated circumstances and non-reporting the grave crime is being investigated under Article 109, Part II, Sub-paragraph "E" and Article 376, Part II of the Criminal Code of Georgia.
